SUMMER PROGRAM

To be curious, self-directed, and engaged;
to be compassionate, collaborative, and think critically;
to be adaptable and problem solve—these so called “soft skills” are now seen as most necessary for our rapidly changing world.
Montessori education focuses on all of these with the same amount of importance as academic skills.

Summer Preschool Program

The St. Columba Summer Program is a well-run, indoor/outdoor, fun summer experience for children 2 1/2-6 years of age. (must be potty trained) Each day we emphasize the simple joys of summer with lots of time for water play, gardening, walks along the Animas, outdoor projects and child-directed exploration of multi-dimensional play areas and gardens. We have developed an outdoor curriculum and at the same time we offer a Montessori based classroom with a Science theme curriculum.

During the summer months we will continue to study Bugs and Insects through June, then onto Tropical Rainforest and the natural environment. In addition to the child-directed classroom setting, we have a science room designed as a hands-on children’s museum for further discovery. Our staff is year round and comprised of well-educated professional teachers.
